Justin Kornegay

Justin Kornegay has been with Johnson & Associates since its inception and became a partner in January 2019. Being raised in a small rural East Texas town taught Justin the value of hard work and persistence. Justin uses these lessons to zealously advocate for his clients in both the courtroom and the boardroom. Justin works tirelessly to understand his clients’ cases and needs, and to exceed client expectations through aggressive litigation or creative problem solving.

Justin maintains a diverse practice focused on civil and commercial litigation, construction, and business transactions. Justin has represented a broad range of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to individuals, in a myriad of legal matters. In his construction practice, Justin represents property owners, contractors, and subcontractors in contract preparation, perfection and enforcement of lien rights, and disputes involving breach of contract, construction defects, as well as issues arising under the Texas Residential Construction Liability Act (RCLA). Justin has also represented numerous clients in real estate matters, including residential and commercial lease disputes, evictions, and title disputes. Justin rounds out his experience by representing clients in both state and federal appeals covering a wide range of issues.

Justin attended Texas A&M University before pursuing his law degree at the University of Houston Law Center. During his time in law school, Justin served as a teaching assistant tutoring first year law students and as Professor Ellen Marrus’ Research Assistant. Justin was also an active member of the UHLC moot court team, competing in various national and international competitions. Justin finished law school as a member of the Garland R. Walker American Inn of Court and went on to hold a postgraduate fellowship with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Before joining the Firm, Justin gained significant litigation experience at Houston firms dealing with complex commercial litigation, including property and casualty insurance litigation and general business litigation, as well as civil appeals in both state and federal courts across the nation.
