Johnson & Associates $1.05 Million Trial Victory in Kansas Federal Court

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS (May 11, 2023) – Skipton et al v. RevHoney. Inc. et al. Johnson & Associates obtained a jury verdict of $1.05 million in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas. Partner Christopher Johnson and Associate Attorney Jordan Corn represented a Texas limited liability company as well as two commercial business investors involved in a multi-party federal lawsuit based on claims that the Defendants (1) committed numerous acts of fraud in order to induce Johnson & Associates’ clients to invest in their company and (2) breached the fiduciary duty they owed to Johnson & Associates’ clients as stockholders in the Defendants’ company. The Defendants filed counterclaims and third-party claims against Johnson & Associates’ clients for fraud, fraud in the inducement, breach of contract, promissory estoppel, and tortious interference with a business expectancy and seeking damages of more than $1.8 million. Over four (4) days, Johnson & Associates presented their clients’ case before an eight (8) member jury. On May 11, 2023, the jury returned its verdict granting all of Johnson & Associates’ clients’ claims, denying all of the Defendants’ claims, and awarding Johnson & Associates’ clients $1.05 million, consisting of $600,000.00 in actual damages and an additional $450,000.00 in punitive damages.
